Donna J. Mullins

DONNA J. MULLINS, 86, of Madison, WV passed away peacefully on August 16, 2025, surrounded by her children watching WNBA.
Donna was born April 26, 1939 to the late Leroy and Myrtle Lambert.
She was a 1957 graduate of Scott High School. Donna married the love of her life, John "Jim" M. Mullins Jr. on August, 6, 1959; they were married 50 years. Donna was a stay-at-home mother and housewife. She was always in the stands when her children were playing sports. She would tell everyone that the best thing in her life was her children John and Michele. After she raised her children, she started bowling, which she enjoyed with her friends. Donna started the Red Hat Society group with her friends and was the Vice Queen with her friend Linda. Donna also loved to cook for her family on the holidays. College basketball, specifically the Kentucky Wildcats, was Donna's favorite sports team to watch. Her second favorite was The North Carolina Tar Heels because she loved their pretty blue uniforms.
She was preceded in death by her husband John "Jim" Mullins Jr.; brothers Richard Lambert, James Lambert and Leroy Lambert Jr.; sister Ocie Connelly; and son-in-law Todd Bender.
Donna is survived by her son John M. Mullins III of Chesapeake, WV; and daughter Michele Bender of Charleston, WV; granddaughter Nina Onate and her husband Gustavo; brother Jack (Edna) Lambert. Grand-fur babies and great grand-fur babies, and her special grand-fur baby, Buddy. Several nieces, nephews, friends, and family.
The family would like to thank friends Linda and Judy for visiting her often, and her caregivers Glenda, Samantha, Juliana, Pam, Kelly, and Marsha, alongside hospices nurses Scott, Chris and Leslie.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, August 21, 2025 at Handley Funeral Home in Danville, WV with Tom Bias officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens on Low Gap Road, Madison, WV.
Visitation begins at 1 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
