Douglas "Doug" James Nunan Jr., age 39, of Roswell, Georgia, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 11, 2021 in Atlanta, Georgia.
Doug was born to Douglas James Nunan Sr. and Myra Elena Nunan on January 9, 1982 in Wiesbaden, West Germany. He was the first grandson to his paternal grandmother. He was born into an Army family and was a world traveler at a young age growing up in places like Mainz, West Germany, MacDill AFB, Florida, Fort Leonardwood, Missouri, Bel Aire, Maryland, Fort Benning, Georgia, Fort Clayton, Panama, Fort Drum. New York, and ending up in Hinesville, Georgia. Being a military brat instilled a love of culture, travel and adventure that lasted a lifetime.
Doug was a graduate of Bradwell Institute - Class of 2000. Following graduation, he relocated to Alpharetta, Georgia to attend Devry Institute and then settled in the Roswell, Georgia area where he had lived for over 20 years. He worked at Cypress Care and OPTUM for over 15 years. Most recently, he worked for Ryder and Dominos Pizza. His work ethic was second to none. He was very dedicated, loyal and selfless.
Doug was an amazing person to know and was everyone's favorite jokester. He was the life of the party and will be remembered by his infectious laugh. He was extremely articulate with his words and could influence any conversation in his favor.
Doug enjoyed all sports and attended numerous events including those with the Braves, Falcons, Atlanta United, Hawks, NASCAR, and his beloved "BIG BLUE" - the New York Giants. He was heavily involved in a local Fantasy Football League called Not For Losers. Doug was the original member of the league for over 16 years. His team the G MEN had one 2nd place finish and two 3rd place finishes.
Doug was best known for his love of music. He composed songs with his friends and supported both local artists and larger headliners. He usually had tickets to every music festival that caught his eye and was always trying to go somewhere. Events such as TomorrowWorld-Atlanta, Buku, EDC Orlando and Roswell's "Alive after 5" to name a few.
Doug was more affectionately known as "Papa" to his family, and was one of the founding members of the HLFCrew4Eva. Friends and family were everything to him and he was the first to lend a hand to others when they needed help, support, a surprise visit, a smile...Doug's memory will live on in those countless lives that he was touched.
Doug is preceded in death by his grandfathers, Philip L. Nunan Sr. and Severino Henriquez; Uncle Severino Henriquez and several very close friends.
His memory will forever be cherished by his parents, Douglas and Myra Nunan of Hinesville, Georgia; sisters, Jodie Hall (Chris), Tanya Marshall (Joseph), Emily and his brother, Brian; nieces, Jazmine Stewart (Deion), Amara Mueller, Cayley Hall; nephews, Branden Barrett, Brent Barrett, Alan Mueller Jr. and Jace Marshall; grandmothers, Janice Nunan of Saco, Maine and Adina Sanchez of San Carlos, Panama; brother in law, Alan Mueller Sr., and many aunts, uncles and cousins in Florida, Maine and Panama.
A Celebration of Life Service was held in Roswell, GA on July 23rd, 2021. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2pm in Hinesville, Ga on Saturday, August 21st, 2021 at the St Stephen Catholic Church Social Hall, 399 Woodland Dr, Hinesville, GA 31313
