Dear Gene I miss and love you more than words can express. Not a day goes by I don't think of you and most of the time I'm crying. I wish I could have made it to the Rodeos to watch you, I know you were a go getter. I have one of your rodeo buckles and it must have been a special one because it is well worn in !!! I pray that you are with the rest of the family so please give everyone a great big hug for me and tell them that Ab loves and misses them. I can't wait for the day when our Heavenly Father brings me home to be with y'all. I will always love and miss you with all of my heart. You were the best big brother any little sister could have ever asked for. I would give anything to be able to hug your neck again and tell you that I love you. Forever and always your loving little sister.

Delores and I were saddened by the news today of your loss, we were away Sunday and Monday and were not aware until late today. Gene knew I was a Cancer survivor, and would always ask how I was. He was always pleasant and concerned about others. We extend our deepest sympathy to the families.

Gene and I grew up together and I have many fond memories of the time I spent with Gene. At one point in time after high school we lived together in one of his grandmothers rental houses. Rest in piece my friend.

I grew up on Greenbay Dr, a few blocks from Gene. We were in many classes throughout the years, played with & against each other in baseball, but on the same state champion dixie youth team. My dad, the Bear, was our coach.

We hung out at our lake house, skied, fished and enjoyed the outdoors. In our early 20's we worked together at Raybestos Manhattan, 2nd shift. He had a '68 Road Runner 383 - 4 speed, I had a Torino Cobra Jet.

We must have raced a dosen times & we were dead even most of the time, rarely would one of us edge the other one out.

Great memories with an incredible man who had a remarkable sense of humor.

He will be missed, but never forgotten.

May our LORD Jesus bless his precious family & all those who are mourning this grevious loss.

Blessings n Peace,

Dale Prine

I met Gene at Bonds Wilson high school back in 1971 the first year we had Integration in Charleston county public school. We sat beside each other in Class and we would sing the latest soul and pop music that was on the chart back then.
Upon graduating from school we went our merry way. To make a long story short I got a job working at the charleston naval shipyard and me and a coworker name George Thackeray was driving through the shipyard and I spotted Gene. I called out his name and I holler "Gene McCarn " and my coworker George Thackeray said to me that if I knew him and I said yes we graduated from school together class of 1974. Mr.Thackeray (we call him Lockey) said that he knew Gene father whom was a good boxer back in the day. Anyway gene rest in peace and keep on singing "rolling on the river"
We will see each other again in that great beyond.
