Guy Shifflett Obituary
Guy was a retired major in the U.S. Army and worked as a security information analyst at Fort Stewart.
He was preceded in death by his father, Guy A. Shifflett Sr.
Guy is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Jackie Shifflett of Sunbury; his daughter, Ashley Shifflett of Marietta; mother, Ruth Gladwell and step-father, Roger Gladwell of Stuarts Draft, Va.; brother, Roy (Linda) Shifflett of Stuarts Draft; and many other loving family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 12, at Dorchester Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Greg Loskoski officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that remembrances in Guy's name be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Drive, Memphis, TN 38105.
Richmond Hill Funeral Home, www.coxrichmondhillfh.com, has charge of arrangements.

Jackie and Ashley, Rick and I were shocked and devastated to hear about Guy. We don't see you or get together but have such fond memories of me meeting you and getting together with you - Ashley our letter server at the time - such a great time when living in Atlanta. For Rick it goes way back and I know you shared much more. I hate it that we are so young and losing friends that we planned on seeing one day in the future. I am so sorry for your loss. At a time like this it is the faith that we will all be eternally united that gets us through. Guy was a special person who touched many lives.
I often think of the times we all had in Dahlonega and in particular a road trip Guy and I took to the Citadel as delegates to a student conference (really?). Instead of attending the conference we hooked up with some friends in the second battalion and spent three days learning how good we had it at NGC. He was a good friend. I am sure he was a great husband.
