John Wilcox Obituary

John Frank Wilcox Jr., 93, of Ludowici, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014, at his residence.
He was born on Jan. 4, 1921, to the late Ella Harris and John F. Wilcox Sr. in Glennville. John was educated in Long County School System. He was a member and also served as a deacon at America Come Back to God Church in Ludowici and was employed as a truck driver with Ludowici Lumber and Tatum Brothers Logging Company for many years.
John was proceeded in death by both parents; a daughter, Judy Elaine Wilcox; three sisters, Janie Wilcox Gamble, Verdie Mae Wilcox Cummings and Wonnie Wilcox Cummings; and one brother, Sampson Wilcox.
He leaves to cherish his memory: a loving and devoted wife, Bernice Furr Wilcox of Ludowici; one devoted son, Curtis Wilcox of Ludowici; one sister -in-law, Ella Furr McClane of Brooklyn, N.Y.; two brothers-in-law, Arthur (Linda) Furr of Savannah and Ulysis Furr of Brooklyn; three grandchildren, Von Wilcox of Hollywood, Fla., Christopher Wilcox and Ashonte` Wilcox, both of Brooklyn; five great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 31, at America Come Back to God Church on North Macon Street in Ludowici.
Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, at St. James Baptist Church on Lincoln Street in Ludowici. Interment will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Funeral services have been entrusted to Royal Funeral Home, 247 W. Pine St., Jesup.
