David Stewart Obituary

The world lost a bright light on April 24 when David "Davey" Stewart of Thornton passed away unexpectedly at the age of 61.

Born in Pueblo, Dave moved to Aurora in his childhood where he developed his talents for both music and motocross, passions that would remain constant for the rest of his life.

Davey became a local punk rock legend as the drummer for Th' Frantix, '57 Lesbian, and many other bands playing gigs throughout Colorado and around the country. His music embodied the energy and free-wheeling creativity that permeated his personality.

He was also an accomplished motocross racer, competing at the professional level in Colorado and trying his hand at select national events. Even after hanging up his racing boots, Dave never stopped following all things motocross. He could often be found watching the latest race or restoring vintage bikes in his garage. Bikes tuned at "Davey's Dino Hut" were the best on the track.

Despite being a talented drummer and motocross racer, nothing compared to the love and pride Dave took in being a father and
grandfather. His love for his family was unmatched. Everyone who met Dave undoubtedly heard stories about his sons and his
grandkids–whether you wanted to or not! Dave's family and close friends were the bedrock of his life.

We will all miss his infectious laugh, his fun-loving spirit, his "classic" stories, and his unconditional love.

Davey is survived by his mother, Sally Ferguson, Jason (Becca) Stewart and Abram (Sixtine) Stewart, his stepson Laine Bradford, sister Tammy Stewart, and his four grandchildren, Caleb, April, Emmett, and Soren. He will also be missed by countless other family members and friends.

Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, May 30 at 5 p.m. in Brighton. Please contact the family for more information. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Rocky Mountain Crisis Partners.

Tammy Stewart

Dear DAVEY, mama , Shilah , and I ( Sally Ferguson mother, Shilah Allen niece, Tammy Stewart sister) love you so very much and miss you so very much. There are no words to describe our hearts and soul for you.
We know how much you love Jesus and know you are safely Home in Heaven , at perfect peace. God knew exactly when you would take your first breath in Heaven and nothing could change that. Psalm 139:16. We know that you are saved and Nothing could ever separate you from God´s love. Nothing ! Romans 8:38
Your heart and love for your children and grandchildren, and your heart and love for mama was complete and unconditional and precious. Mama says you were never embarrassed to show your love for your family.
DAVEY, God has called you by name and you are His. Isaiah 43:1. We will never tell you goodbye, there are no goodbyes in Christ. We know without any doubt we will hold you again , see you again, and hear you tell of all your adventures again.
DAVEY, we love you and know where you are, and that helps to comfort our hearts, but still our hearts break and the tears fall.
May God hold you close as He also holds us. Love forever, mama, Tammy and Shilah.

Dave was one of my first and best friends all those years ago on Nucla Street in Aurora, Colorado. We lost touch for a few years, but thankfully over the last year we were friends reunited. For that I am thankful. He was full of light and love. Keep burning bright Davey Stewart, you will live on and on and on and your spirit will always shine. My love and heart goes out to Sally, Tammy and the rest of the family. What a fine human, Davey..you will be sorely missed.
