Marcia Lou Edwards

1937 - 2025

Marcia Lou Edwards, 88, passed away on August 26, 2025. She was born on April 29, 1937 in Denver, Colorado to Harley and Neva Springston. In her early childhood, Marcia's family lived on the Beer Sisters dairy farm in Littleton where her father worked as a mechanic for the company milk trucks. She attended Bear Creek Consolidated School for two years until her family moved to Denver, where she attended Rosedale Elementary, Grant Jr. High and graduated from South Denver High School in 1955. After high school, Marcia worked her way through college, attending Colorado Teacher's College (now University of Northern Colorado) and earned her degree in Elementary Education in 1959. She began her teaching career in Jefferson County, teaching 1st grade at Secrest Elementary in Arvada, Colorado. Marcia taught 32 years, finishing her career at Pennington Elementary in Wheat Ridge.
To further her passion for teaching children, Marcia worked as a substitute teacher in Jeffco preschools for many years after her retirement. She met the love of her life, Marvin, at church in 1962, and they were married in 1964. Their daughter, Abby, was born in 1968. Marcia was devoted to her faith and served in various ministries for 55 years at Trinity church in Wheat Ridge, including teaching Sunday School for many years.
She was a devoted grandma to her 3 grandkids and 4 great grandchildren, and had many long-time friends. Marcia is preceded in death by her beloved husband Marv and sister Cherie. She is survived by her brother, Jerry Springston (Terri), of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, her daughter, Abby (Robert Lopez) of Arvada, Grandchildren: Mallory (Garrett Loew), Audrey (Andrew Shumate), and Keith Lopez, and 4 great-grandchildren.
