Israel Snell Obituary

As we gather to remember SGT. Israel Christian Snell, it is with great fondness and love. Israel was born October 15, 1969, in Rochester, New York, the son of Dennis M. and Gail Ann Duell Snell. He departed this earthly life on Saturday, August 23, 2025, in Columbia, South Carolina. Israel was educated in the public school system of New York. He enlisted in the United States Army where he faithfully served his country for twenty-two years in the US Army and three years with the Veteran's Affairs Regional office. During his tenure in the Army, he worked as a Human Resources Specialist and received many awards and commendations to include: the Iraq Campaign Medal w/two Campaign Stars, Army Medal of Commendation (5th Award), Valorous Unit Award, Army Good Conduct Medel (6th Award), and the National Defense Service Medal (2nd Award) to name a few. SGT. Snell served with pride and dignity. Israel was a gentle and loving husband, father and friend. He was a caring individual and a devout Christian who was dedicated to his country, family and church. Though he is no longer physically with us, he has left a legacy of love to all those who loved and knew him. He is lovingly survived by his wife, Tanja Snell. He was dearly beloved by his family, and dear friends, all of whom will tremendously miss him. We are thankful for all those who loved and cherished him as we do.
