Louis Wilson Obituary

Louis Blease Wilson Jr., a devoted husband, loving father, and decorated veteran, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of service, strength, and unwavering dedication to family and country. Born to the late Louis Blease Wilson Sr. and Lois Kneece Wilson, Louis was raised with a deep sense of duty and integrity that guided him throughout his life. He was predeceased by his sister, Mary Jean Wilson, and is survived by his cherished wife of 56 years, Linda Brunson Wilson; his son, Clifton Louis Wilson (Virginia); his daughter, Mary Kelly Wilson; his sister, Suzanne Peebles; and numerous nieces and nephews who will carry forward his memory with love and pride. Louis served his country with honor as a United States Army helicopter pilot during the Vietnam War. His military career continued with the South Carolina Army National Guard, where he proudly flew both Huey and Apache helicopters and rose to the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 5 (CW5). While in SCARNG, he served as the Chief Warrant Officer for the State of South Carolina. Wilson also worked as a project manager with Duke Energy in Hartsville, SC where he retired after a distinguished career. Louis will be remembered not only for his professional accomplishments but also for his quiet strength, his deep love for his family, and his steadfast character. He was a man of principle, humility, and grace-qualities that touched everyone fortunate enough to know him. The graveside service for Mr. Wilson will be held at 3 o'clock, Thursday, August 21st, at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road, Columbia, SC. The family would like to offer a special thanks to the caring men and women from Nurse Next Door and Vitality Living for their support. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration, in honor of Louis's life and in support of continued research and care. Donations may be given by mail at 2700 Horizon Drive, Suite 120, King of Prussia, PA 19406 or by visiting www.theAFTD.org. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
