We still miss Mel and Phyllis, it was a joy to be next door. Mel was a good man, we had a lot of laughs and tears together, My heart hurt for him when Phyllis died, I would go over in his yard, and hold him as he cried. He was tender, loving and would always ask, do you need anything, a prayer or a cup of sugar? He was special and I know that Heavenly Father will bless him for the good work he did while on earth. Peace to their family is my prayer.

Mel and Phyllis were such good friends while we were at First Baptist. We went to your house for a pig roast which we did several years. This night was different. The pig caught fire when Mel went to sleep. Needless to say he had to get another, prep and start it cooking in the middle of the night. It was a little late getting done but was so good. Also good to see the kids(his and all the class members) running around and having a great time. Those are the things I want to remember about Mel. He was so generous with his time and himself. He was truly the epitome of a Christian. We will all miss him
