DORIS JOYCE McCARTY
August 16, 1927 ~ September 5, 2016
Doris Joyce McCarty, 89, passed away peacefully at home after a short battle with cancer. She was born in Tekoa, WA to Fred Wylet and Lucille Mahre. Joyce and her husband, Harold were married in East Wenatchee in July 1945. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Vancouver and began their family.
Joyce was an immensely loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who would light up any room with her beautiful smile. Joyce enjoyed traveling to Alaska three times, many other trips to Canada, and across the US in their motor home, fishing and enjoy the sights, with Harold by her side. She also enjoyed their trips to Reno, NV over the years. And everyone who tried it enjoyed her delicious pineapple upside down cake.
Joyce was a very caring and loving woman whose greatest joys were making other people feel loved, being around her family, cooking meals for the holidays, and decorating the house for holidays throughout the year.
She will be dearly missed by all who love her, especially her husband of 71 years, Harold McCarty; two brothers Dale Wylet of Wenatchee and Don Wylet of Vancouver; three sons, Pat McCarty of Woodland, WA, Tim McCarty of Cougar, WA, Dan McCarty of Hockinson, WA and one daughter, Kathy Barker of Battle Ground, WA; and all of their spouses; and two stepchildren, Dick Callahan of Blanchard, ID and Sandy Spencer of Spokane, WA. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Shannon McCarty Lane of Vancouver, and two sisters.
Her service will be held at Northwood Park Funeral Home, 16407 NE 15th Ave., Ridgefield, WA on September 10, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. Viewing will be at same location, Friday Sept. 9, 2016, 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. and Saturday Sept. 10, 2016 from 12:00 - 3:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, the Leukemia Foundation, or the The Salvation Army.

I remember how sweet, kind, and loving, she was to everyone. I loved being her niece. I will always remember her rope swinging like Tarzan over the creek. It makes me smile. I hope she's doing well in Heaven. Lots of Love, Teresa

I have a tremendous gratitude and appreciation for Doris Joyce McCarty. Sje hada profound Iimpact on a loving home that I had the honor and pleasure of visiting often as a close friend of her oldest son Patrick. To this day some 50 years later I can still vividly see her welcoming smile and hear her gentle words. She may have passed but her love lives on.
