Phyllis Dean Obituary

PHYLLIS LORRAINE DEAN
March 29, 1924 ˜ October 19, 2025

Phyllis Dean, 101, of Ridgefield, Washington, passed away peacefully at home on October 19, 2025.

Phyllis was born on March 29, 1924, in Bemidji, Minnesota. She lived a remarkable life, marked by her love of family, community, simple pleasures, and quiet pursuits.

Phyllis found joy in her garden, tending to vegetables, flowers, and fruit, and spent late summers canning her harvest. She cherished time at the beach, where she was particularly fond of digging for razor clams. She also loved camping. An avid reader throughout her life, she was also a devoted sports fan and enjoyed the daily challenge of crossword puzzles, which she completed in pen - a testament to her sharp mind and confidence. She delighted her family each Christmas with her gift of handmade sugar bells.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Cordon “Cordy” Dean; her stepson, Phillip Dean; and all nine of her siblings.

Phyllis is survived by her three children: Gilbert Dean of Indio, CA; Leslie Phernetton of Ridgefield, WA; and Laura Dean of Fayetteville, GA; her stepson, Chris Dean (Laura); her grandchildren, Nathan Phernetton, Rachel Blodgett (Chris), Mae (Amy) Dean Clark (Thann), Tiffany Dean, Ted Dean, and Aubrey Rutter (Greg); great-grandchildren, Mason Phernetton, Joshua Blodgett, Oliver Clark, Penelope Clark, Quinn Clark, and Bergen Rutter; and numerous nieces, nephews, and a large extended family.

At Phyllis’s request, there will be no formal memorial services.

Final arrangements have been made with Northwood Park Funeral & Cemetery in Ridgefield, Washington.
