Allen "Ernie" Ernst, 75, of Schuyler, died Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at CHI Bergan-Mercy Hospital in Omaha.
Funeral Service Wednesday, July 10, 2024, 10:30 A.M. Trinity Lutheran Church, Schuyler Rev. Aaron Hanneman, Officiating. Visitation Tuesday 4-8 P.M. Kracl Funeral Chapel, Schuyler. Visitation Wednesday one hour prior to services, at the church. Dinner in the church hall immediately following the service. Memorials in care of the family for future designation
Allen "Ernie" Ernst was born January 30, 1949, in Columbus to Melvin and Marcella (Huhn) Ernst. He attended area schools and graduated from Schuyler High School in 1967. Ernie lived in the same house his entire life. On April 17, 1971, he married Katherine "Kak" Heavican at St. Augustine's Catholic Church in Schuyler. They farmed until 2006. Ernie also owned Ernie's Trucking and fed cattle. The rare times he wasn't working, he enjoyed airboating, spending time with his family, watching old westerns on TV and playing with his dogs, Annie and Abby. He was a lifelong ,member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Ernie is survived by his wife Kak, son Marty and his wife April Ernst, all of Schuyler, son Patrick Ernst of Rockwell City, Iowa, sister Elaine (Jim) Williams of Bellevue, three grandchildren; Chloe, McCoy and Ada Ernst and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Anita Ernst and Nancy DeBaets, brother Randy Ernst and parents-in-law Jim and Margaret "Maggie" Heavican.

Ernie was a wonderful friend to me and I so appreciate our visits. Ernie always had a snack for my daughter when she was little. He will be missed
