Anita Weber Obituary

Anita Weber

February 9, 1930 - September 6, 2024

Anita Weber, 94, of Columbus, formerly of David City, passed away on Friday, September 6, 2024, at Prairie Village Retirement Center in Columbus.

Anita Marie Weber was born on February 9, 1930 in Beatrice, Nebraska, to William and Elma (Brase) Esch. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church near Beatrice and graduated from Beatrice High School with the class of 1948. On December 26, 1951, Anita married the love of her life, Bert Weber, at Trinity Lutheran Church near Beatrice; four children were born to this union.

After Anita and Bert married, they first lived in California before moving back to Beatrice, then to Glenwood, Iowa, and finally moving to David City when the NAPA auto parts store came up for sale.

Although being a mom and grandma was her top priority, Anita never let any grass grow beneath her feet. Aside from working at Weber Auto Parts and raising a family, Anita found time to teach Sunday School, deliver meals on wheels, and volunteer at David Place and with the Red Cross, as well as completing many volunteer activities at Redeemer Lutheran. In all she did, Anita's deep faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus was obvious and she was active for many years at Redeemer Lutheran Church. In 2012 the couple moved to Prairie Village in Columbus, where Anita was a faithful member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Anita and Bert loved to travel, making it to all 50 states and across Canada. She regularly played cards, and always had a new card game to teach her grandkids. As often as she could, she loved attending her kids', grandkids', and great-grandkids' activities. She and Bert were "house flippers" before it was a thing, re-doing over a dozen houses and assisting in some of the finish work in 2000 when the addition was made to Redeemer Lutheran. Among her greatest accomplishments was skydiving at the young age of 88!

She is survived by her children: Mark (Carol) Weber of Cedar Bluffs, NE, Mary (John) Beller of Columbus, NE, Jean (Scott) McGill of Waverly, NE, and James (Anne) Weber of Columbus, NE; sister Lorene (Stan) Geer of Lincoln, NE, and sister-in-law Janice Esch of Seward, NE, 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Anita was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bert in 2015, grandson Michael Beller, brothers Leonard (Eleanor) Esch and Robert Esch.

Funeral Services for Anita will be held on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church in David City. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5 until 7 p.m. at Moravec Johnson Mortuary in David City and will resume on Thursday at the church from 10 until 11 a.m. Interment will be in the David City Cemetery with lunch following back at the church.
