COLUMBUS - Barbara Jo (Barlow) Boruch, 59, of Columbus, died at home with her family by her side on Tuesday, April 14, 2015, after a courageous 19-year battle with breast cancer.
In keeping with Barbara's wishes she has been cremated. Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 20, at St. Mary's Cathedral in Grand Island. Father Donald A. Buhrman will be the celebrant. Inurnment will follow in the Grand Island Cemetery. Visitation with family will be 4-7 p.m. Sunday at Curran Funeral Chapel in Grand Island.
Barbara was born on Nov. 5, 1955, in Sidney to Charles R. and Dorothy L. (Ringleman) Barlow.
She married Charles Boruch on Feb. 22, 1993, in Steamboat Springs, Colorado.
Survivors of the immediate family include her husband, Charles of Columbus; mother, Dorothy Barlow; brother, Randy; sister-in-law, Sue, and niece, Skyler; brother, Robert; sister-in-law, Beth, and nieces, Mandy and Samantha, all of Grand Island; sister, Kathy Martin; brother-in-law, Brian, and niece, Kaitlin, of Helena, Montana; brother-in-law, Johnny Boruch and Linda Cooper of Duncan; sisters-in-law, Patty Mindrup and family and Colette Boruch and family; stepsons, Charles Jr. and Greg and Angie Boruch of Barker City, Oregon; step-grandchildren, Brittnie, Amber, Nic, Taylor, Hannah and Brianna; and great-granddaughter, Kaylie.
Barb spent her early childhood in North Platte before moving with her family to Grand Island in 1970. She attended Northwest High School and graduated with the class of 1974. Barb worked many years for Vishay (Dale's) in Columbus. She enjoyed gardening, going to garage sales with her best friend Patty and traveling to Montana with her mother.
Barbara also enjoyed the time she spent with her family, especially her nieces and step-grandchildren and her dog Blue.
Barbara was preceded in death by her father, Charles Barlow; and father- and mother-in-law, John and Rose Boruch.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Mary's Cathedral or the American Cancer Society.
