CRESTON - Clara Kurpgeweit, 98, of Creston, Nebraska, died Monday, July 2, 2007, at the Butler County Health Care Center in David City, Nebraska.
Services were held on Thursday, July 5, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, rural Leigh, Nebraska, with Rev. Dr. Marsha Jark-Swain officiating. Interment was in the parish cemetery.
Clara was born Aug. 8, 1908, in rural Platte County, Nebraska, to Henry and Anna (Schluntz) Brock. Clara attended school in rural Platte County. On Sept. 23, 1930, Clara married Otto Kurpgeweit at St. Paul' s Lutheran Church, rural Leigh. They lived on the farm in rural Platte County where Clara was a homemaker and helped on the farm. In 1974, Clara moved to Leigh and later moved in with her granddaughter. She enjoyed quilting, embroidery, and baking breads, pies, and rolls.
Clara is survived by her son. Dale (Sheryl) Kurpgeweit, Creston; daughter, Verna (Frank) Fischer, Stanton; daughter-in-law, Marilyn (Stanley) Settje of Creston; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; and 1 step great-great grandchild
She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Marvin Kurpegeweit, 3 grandchildren; brothers, William, Alfred, and Ernst Brock; sister, Sophie Schmidt; sister, Minnie Hausermann. Memorials may be directed to St. Paul' s Lutheran Church. Condolences may be sent to www.gasshaney.com
