SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - Elizabeth "Liz" Ann Geiser (Fredrickson), 78, passed unexpectedly but peacefully at her home in Scottsdale, Arizona, on Sunday, Nov. 27, 2016.
Liz was born on Dec. 30, 1937, in Columbus. She grew up in Columbus and graduated from Kramer High School in 1955. At Kramer, Liz was an active participant in a social group of 12 girls who called themselves "The Twelve Remarks" (Remark is Kramer spelled backward). However, to the boys at school they were more frequently referred to as "The Dirty Dozen." There are nine Remarks remaining; Liz was the third to depart this world.
After high school Liz spent her first year of college at Lindenwood, a small, private school in Missouri, after which she transferred to the University of Nebraska. In 1963, Liz married Fred Geiser in Papillion and they were happily married for 53 years. Liz labored alongside Fred in his tax and accounting business for many years and served as his secretary, receptionist, file clerk, typist, procurement officer and head lunch-maker. She frequently remarked that she was dramatically underpaid. Liz enjoyed spending time with her family in Arizona where the sun always shines, tales of the Southwest were born, and the cacti seem ever in bloom. She was an avid reader, weather-enthusiast and sports fan. To her family and all who knew her, Liz was a model of strength, independence and authenticity.
Liz is survived by her spouse, Fred Geiser of Scottsdale, Arizona; daughter, Kate Geiser of Schaumburg, Illinois (and her spouse Lynda Harmison); son, Jeff Geiser of Scottsdale, Arizona (and his spouse Melissa Welch Geiser); three granddaughters, Rachel, Jillian and Ella Geiser; sister, Cynthia Merritt; and many other family and friends.
Liz was preceded in death by her parents, Maxine and Hike Fredrickson.
A small celebration of life gathering for family and close friends will be held Saturday, Dec. 3, in Liz's own home and backyard, her favorite places on earth. Liz was clear that upon her passing in lieu of flowers donations be directed to Hospice of the Valley, the organization that was invaluable in providing care and comfort to her father so many years ago. Memorial donations can be made online at HOV.org, or mailed to 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix, AZ 85014.
