COLUMBUS - Emil "Jr." Behrens, 66, of Columbus, died Tuesday, April 5, 2005, at his home.
Services are 10:30 am Friday at First United Methodist Church in Columbus, with the Rev. M. Wendell Davis officiating. Burial is at Roselawn Memorial Cemetery in Columbus. Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at McKown Funeral Home in Columbus and from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Friday at the church.
Mr. Behrens was born Dec. 19, 1938, in Pierce, to Emil and Opal (Herian) Behrens. He attended school in Pierce. He served in the United States Army from January of 1956 to November of 1957 and later the Army Reserves from 1982-84.
He married Mildred Brunswick Aug. 1, 1961, in Norfolk. He moved to Columbus in 1975 and worked at Duo-Lift and Master Care. He enjoyed being outdoors, watching sports and spending time with his friends at Sapp Brothers. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Survivors include fours son, Gary (Joan) Behrens of Monroe, Bryan (Michelle) Behrens of Omaha, Charles (Julie) Behrens and Kevin Behrens, both of Columbus; six daughters, Tammy (Ron) Mayer of Evans, Colo., Micki (Leo) Zoucha of Omaha, Shelly (James) Zimmerer, Christie (Allen) Stubbert, Tracey Behrens, all of Columbus, and Angie Behrens of Denver; two brothers, Robert (Carole) Behrens of Lawrence, Kan., and LeRay Bessert of Hawaii; one sister, Arla Noyer of Fremont; one sister-in-law, Esta Mae Behrens of Norfolk; 20 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Art and Dallas Behrens; one sister, Delilah Quinn; and the mother of his children, Millie Behrens.
