Fritz grew up on a farm near Duncan, in a close-knit family of devout Catholics that was intensely proud of its Polish heritage. He attended St. Stanislaus school and Duncan High School, before serving in the Army. He was a valued parishioner at St Stanislaus where he ushered, belonged to the Holy Name Society and was a Knight of Columbus.

On November 25, 1967, Francis married, Donna Kaus, at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Columbus, followed by dinner, polka and dancing at St. Stanislaus hall. Francis and Donna managed a farm where they raised cattle and hogs and grew corn, alfalfa and soybeans. Francis also operated a grinder, and for over 20 years he worked as a die setter at Douglas and Lomason.

Francis enjoyed dancing with Donna, card games, Husker football, traveling and his extended family.

He is survived by many nieces, nephews, in-laws and his God children who adored him because of his kindness, gentle, teasing sense of humor and quick smile. Those from out of town loved visits where he'd take them on tractor rides and show them the farm.
