Geraldine Jelinek was born southwest of Snyder, Nebraska, on the family farm. She graduated from Snyder High School in 1946. On June 14, 1951, she married Lumir Kudera, and together they built a beautiful life raising their two sons, Kevin and Keith.
She spent many years on the family farm south of Clarkson, where she cherished the wide-open space and the simple joys of country living. Geraldine tended to a large garden, raised broilers, and lovingly canned the food that sustained her family. Her kitchen was truly the heart of her home - always warm with the smells of home cooked meals, baked goods, and the laughter of family and friends who gathered there.
A talented homemaker, Geraldine poured her love into her family in countless ways. She found joy in gardening, quilting, and filling her home with flowers. Her quilts, sewn with care and creativity, became treasured gifts that reflected her generous spirit.
In 1998, Geraldine moved to Schuyler, where she continued to share her talents and expand her quilting. She even surprised many by taking taekwondo classes led by her doctor, proving her adventurous and spirited nature never faded. Above all, she adored spending time with her grandchildren, who brought light and happiness to her days. Her bond with her granddaughter Kara, who lovingly cared for her as an RN, was especially meaningful.
Geraldine's life was one of love, devotion, and quiet strength. She will be remembered for her giving heart, her steadfast care for her family, and the warmth she brought to everyone blessed to know her.
She is survived by her sons, Kevin (Tammy) Kudera of Clarkson and Keith (Sammie) Kudera of Merriam, Kansas; grandchildren, Korbin Kudera (fiance Sarina Janssen), Kara Kudera, Taylor (Nikki) Kudera, Drew Kudera, and Kylee (Nick) Qualls; great-grandchildren: Adelaide and Josephine Qualls; several nieces, nephews; and friends.
She was preceded in death by husband, Lumir; parents, Jerry and Anna Jelinek; sister, Darlene (Virgil) Hilbers; brothers, Delwyn Jelinek and Dennis (Beverly) Jelinek; half-sister Ardeth Paulson; grandson, Adam Kudera; brother-in-law, Joseph J. (Roma) Kudera; and aunts and uncles.
