James J. Herfkens, 88, of Papillon, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 20.
A funeral service is being held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, at First Lutheran Church in Papillion. Visitation is being held from 2-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23, at Kahler-Dolce Mortuary in Papillion with family receiving friends from 5-7 p.m. A graveside service is being held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Blue Springs Cemetery in Blue Springs.
James was an educator in Nebraska for 42 years and an active member Papillion Lions Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents, August and Dorothy Herfkens, son Steven Herfkens, brothers Francis and Robert and sister, Doris.
He is survived by his wife, Connie; children Cheryl and Donald Schlueter of Waco, Jane and Gary Jensen of Evergreen, Colorado; Jeffrey and Becky Herfkens of Olatha, Kansas; daughter-in-law Carol Herfkens, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, brother Charles Herfkens of Ankeny, Iowa; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Memorials suggested to Papillion Lions Club or First Lutheran Church in Papillion.
