PRAGUE - Joe G. Vrana, 73, of Prague, died Tuesday, May 24, 2005, at his home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Abie, with the Revs. Ronald G. Homes and Jamie Hotovy officiating. Burial is at the church cemetery, with honors by Prague Post No. 254 of the American Legion. Visitation is from noon-3 p.m. today at Svoboda Funeral Home South Chapel in Schuyler, 4-8 p.m. today, with a 7:30 p.m. rosary, at the church and from 9-10 a.m. Friday at the church.
Mr. Vrana was born Dec. 26, 1931, in Saunders County, to Joe L. and Marie (Novacek) Vrana. He attended Saunders County District No. 80 School and graduated from Prague High School in 1949. He served in the United States Army from January of 1952-December of 1953.
He married Margie Maly Nov. 13, 1954, in Wahoo. He farmed near Prague for the entirety of his life.
He was a member of the church, where he served on the church board, Catholic Workman Branch No. 20, where he served as secretary, and the American Legion Post No. 254 of Prague.
Survivors include his wife of Prague; three sons, Steve (Raleen) Vrana of Wahoo, Dave (Diane) Vrana of Linwood and Don (Peggy) Vrana of Omaha; two sisters, Marie (Clarence) Roh of Linwood and Rita Renzi of Denver; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorials are suggested to St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Abie or Prague Fire and Rescue Department.
