Larry DeBaets

A memorial service was held for Larry at Kracl Funeral Chapel in Schuyler, on Saturday, June 29, 2024.

Larry was born in Bellwood, Nebraska to Hector and Ella DeBaets on January 9, 1941. He attended school in Schuyler, graduating in 1959. After graduation Larry joined the Navy and then later married Nancy Ernst. He worked at a gas station for several years and eventually purchased it. Larry also did some farming and truck driving. He drove shag truck for 20 years at the Schuyler packing plant and during that time Nancy passed away. Larry eventually married Carolyn Griffith and managed mobile home parks for several years. With his magnetic personality he developed many friendships. He and Carolyn eventually retired and settled in Burwell, Nebraska which was a long-time dream of Larry's. He enjoyed fishing and boating. In 2021 they moved to Bellevue, Nebraska to be closer to family.

Larry is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn.

2 children; daughter Jolene of Valentine, NE. and son Shane (Deb) of Lincoln, NE.

6 grandchildren; Caleb (Sydney) of Kearney, NE., Danielle (Mitchell) of Utica, NE., Garrett (Andrea) of Crookston, NE., Kelsie (Nick) Roberts of Pleasantdale, NE., Kylie (Rylie) Lewis of Lincoln, NE., Mikayla DeBaets of Lincoln, NE.

4 great grandchildren; Case & Brooks, Joshua and Lane.

2 sisters; Donna Eilers, Doris Ahrens, sister in law Elaine (Jim), brother in law Ernie (Kak) along with many aunts , uncles, cousins, nieces and nephew.

4 bonus children; Mike (Norma) of Seward, NE., Tammy of David City, NE., Jonna (Aaron) of Sidney, IA. and John of Omaha, NE.

Several bonus grandchildren; Trina (Chris) of Spring, TX, Jessica (Denton) of Elm Creek, NE., Corey (Dijah) of Tempe, AZ., Andy (Candi) of Bennington, NE., Chris (Nancy) of Bennington, NE., Easton of Schuyler, NE., Shayla of Schuyler, NE., Jeremy (Stephanie) of Elkhorn, NE., Jaleesa (Josh) of Sycamore, IL., Morgan (Carlos) of Omaha, NE., Dylan Loewe of Genoa, NE.

Bonus great grandchildren; Hannah (Austin), Savannah, Barrett, Clara, Charley, Chris Jr, Trevor, Sierra, Avarie, Ethan, Addison, Annalise, Sloane, Isla and Callum.

Larry was preceded in death by his father Hector, mother Ella, stepfather Frank, wife Nancy, in-laws Melvin and Marcella Ernst, Randy Ernst, Anita Ernst, Dalton Egger, grandparents Emil & Leona DeBaets, August and Ruth Ladwig.
