MONROE - Mabel Ditter, 88, of Monroe, died Sunday, November 25, 2012, at the Columbus Community Hospital.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 29, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at Augustana Lutheran Church, in Genoa, with Rev. D. R. "Buck" Linton-Hendrick officiating. Burial will be in the Friend Cemetery in rural Genoa.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. at Gass Haney Funeral Home and will continue on Thursday at the church from 9:30-10:30 a.m. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. on Thursday at church.
Mabel Ditter was born December 5, 1923, in Columbus, to Emil and Martha (Schmale) Goedeken. Mabel attended Christ Lutheran Grade School and graduated from Columbus High School. Mabel worked for a short time in Columbus before she was united in marriage to Henry Ditter on August 14, 1949, at Christ Lutheran Church. They farmed all their lives in the rural Monroe area where Mabel helped on the farm and raised their two sons. Mabel was a member of the Augustana Lutheran Church in Genoa.
Mabel is survived by her son, Rodney Ditter, of Monroe; son, Randy Ditter, of Greeley, Colo.; three grandchildren, Anastasia, Kelly, and Jessica Ditter; sister, Marian Gossman; brother, Vernon (Betty) Goedeken; and nieces and nephews.
Mabel was preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Martha Goedeken; husband, Henry Ditter; sister, Delores Dicke; and brother, Martin Goedeken.
