Marlene Ann Potts

Marlene Ann Potts, 88, of Columbus died Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at Emerald Care and Rehabilitation in Columbus, Neb.
A memorial service at Trinity Lutheran Church in Columbus will be held on Friday, November 14 at 10:30 a.m. Visitation will be on Thursday, November 13 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Gass Haney Funeral Home and continue Friday from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the church. Interment will be in Columbus Cemetery. In lieu of flowers or plants, etc., memorials may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church.
Marlene Potts was born on August 8, 1937, in Monroe, Neb., to Fredrick and Edna (Nauenburg) Boesiger. Marlene attended school in Monroe and graduated from Monroe High School. Marlene lived her entire life on the family farm, until moving to Emerald Care in Columbus.
On November 23, 1985, Marlene was united in marriage to Gerald Potts at Trinity Lutheran Church in Columbus. Marlene worked at KC Auto supply in Columbus as a bookkeeper until retirement. Marlene was active in many service organizations, such as Soroptomist International, the Eagles, the VFW auxiliary, and the Women's Chamber of Commerce, holding numerous offices. Marlene was also a Sunday School teacher for many years.
Marlene loved bowling. She also enjoyed traveling with family and traveling to visit family that lived out of state. Some of the most memorable trips were a trip to Hawaii to watch the Nebraska football team play, visiting family in Washington and Colorado, and a trip to the Ozarks and Six Flags in Texas.
Marlene is survived by sister, Mildred Gay of Aurora, Colo.; nephews, Jeff Gay of Columbus, Ohio, Dan Boesiger of Omaha, Neb.; nieces, Barb Gay of Aurora, Colo., Kim (Gary) Thompson of Aurora, Colo., Susan Perez Tinnin, of Omaha, Neb., Cindy (John) Boesiger of Omaha, Neb., and Laura (Scott) Lantefield; great-nieces and nephews, Emily (Collin) Wood, Kelsey Gay, Travis Gay, Sydney Thompson, and Logan Thompson; plus, multiple Potts Family relatives; second cousins, Connie (Jim) Mascarello of Columbus, Neb., and Jerry and Sharon Nauenburg of Columbus, Neb.
Marlene was preceded in death by husband, Gerald Potts; parents, Fredrick and Edna Boesiger; brother, Gilbert Boesiger; nephew, Fred Boesiger; brother-in-law, Bob Gay.
