Michael Coan Obituary

NORFOLK - Michael Coan, 59, formerly of Platte Center, died Sunday, March 6, 2016, at his home in Norfolk.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, March 10, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Platte Center. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday and 9-10 a.m. Thursday, all at the church. Interment will be in Ss. Patrick/Joseph Cemetery in Platte Center.

Michael Coan was born Dec. 14, 1956, in Columbus to William and Donna (Smith) Coan. He attended grade school at Platte Center Districts 11 and 24. Mike graduated from Columbus Lakeview High School in 1976. He worked on the family farm.

He is survived by his mother, Donna Coan of Platte Center; brothers, Pat (Cindy) Coan of Columbus and Kevin (Robin) Coan of Platte Center; sisters, Kathleen (Tom) Shemek of Columbus, Connie Coan of Platte Center and Kelly (Tom) Theilen of Columbus; and nieces and nephews, Melissa Shemek and Robert Zimba of White Plains, New York, Dr. Angela (Matt) Kade and Olivia of Elkhorn, Keith (Megan) Coan of Omaha, Canice Coan of Wisconsin, Paige Theilen of Spirit Lake, Iowa, Alyssa and Jordan Theilen of Columbus, Makayla and Megan Coan of Platte Center, Wes (Danielle) Boruch of Lincoln, Danielle (Brian) Whitesides of Gretna and Chelsey Boruch and Justin Kuta of Omaha.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Coan.
