NORFOLK - “Loving Husband and Father" Richard Lee Dannelly, age 68 of Norfolk, died Thursday April 5, 2007, at St. Joseph's Rehabilitation Center in Norfolk. He was born April 8, 1938 at Genoa, the son of Earle and Hannah (Munson) Dannelly.
He attended grade school and graduated from Genoa High School in 1956, he attended Luther College in Wahoo and graduated Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln with a Bachelor's Degree in Education.
After college graduation Richard taught high school History class in Boelus, Bloomfield, Valentine and Greeley for a total of 10 years. He was employed for 18 years in the frozen foods department of Lynn and Al's Grocery and Lynn and Sons Grocery. He owned and operated Cozy Corner Café in Dodge for several years. In 1992, he retired due to ill health.
Richard was baptized at his parents home and confirmed at Augustana Lutheran Church in Genoa in 1952. On July 3, 1972, he married Trudy Suckstorf at Christ Lutheran Church in Norfolk. The family lived in Norfolk a majority of their married life. In his years of stable health, Richard was active at Christ Lutheran Church in the writers group, taught Sunday school, sang in the church choir and was on the Board of Evangelism.
Survivors include his wife, Trudy Dannelly; one son, Paul Earle, and his wife, Lynn Dannelly of Lincoln. He was preceded in death by grandparents, parents, step-father and an infant daughter.
Funeral services: Our Savior Lutheran Church in Norfolk at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday. Interment: Graveside service 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Valley View Cemetery in Genoa.
Visitations: 3-8 p.m. Monday at Johnson-Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk.
Minister: Rev. Lee Weander and Rev. Adrian Hanft.
Music: Organist: Melodee Drenkow; Soloist: Bob Marshall; “On Eagles Wings" “I Can Only Imagine"; Congregational Singing: “I Know That My Redeemer Lives".
Pallbearers: Dana Dannelly, Gaylen Dannelly, Max Harris, Jack Anderson, Dennis Dannelly, Ron Ericson.
Honorary Pallbearers: Charles Dannelly, Morris Dannelly, Leroy Ristow, Dwayne Dannelly, Don Pearson, Lynn Cox.
