Steve Hastreiter Obituary

Mass of Christian Burial for Steve R. Hastreiter, age 50, of Madison, will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 2, 2025, at St. Leonard's Catholic Church in Madison. Reverend Brian Hula will be the celebrant, with burial in the parish cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the church, with a 7:00 p.m. Vigil Service.

Resseguie Funeral Home in Madison is in charge of arrangements.

He passed away Saturday, September 27, 2025.

Steve Ray Hastreiter was born March 19, 1975, in Columbus, Nebraska to James and Laurel (Jansen) Hastreiter. He graduated from Leigh High School in 1994.

On August 18, 2007, Steve married Jamie Baumert at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Leigh, Nebraska. The couple was blessed with two daughters, Rebecca and Caitlyn.

After high school graduation, Steve began farming with his father and later took over the family farms in Stanton and Madison Counties.

He is survived by his daughters, Rebecca and Caitlyn; father, James of Madison; siblings, Jane (Tim) Brandenbruger of Madison, Larry Hastreiter of Madison, Rhonda (Robert) Stoffel of Madison, and Sandra (Brent) Rozmiarek of Humphrey; and nieces and nephews.

Steve was preceded in death by his mother, Laurel.

Casual dress is encouraged.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family.
