COLUMBUS - William O. "Bubbles" Harris, 89, of Columbus, formerly of San Jacinto, Calif. and Fullerton, died Sunday, Dec. 8, 2002, at Beverly Healthcare of Columbus.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Palmer Funeral Home in Fullerton with a Cedar River Masonic Lodge #89 of Fullerton service with the Rev. Larry Phillips officiating. Burial will be at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Albion.
Visitation will be 8-10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Harris was born Oct. 14, 1913, in Waco, Texas, to William Jackson and Lena (Garrett) Harris. He moved to Alhambra, Calif., when he was 10, and graduated from Alhambra High School in 1932. He went on to graduate from the Diesel Engineering School of Los Angeles in 1937.
He married Eva Margaret Shadrick on Feb. 10, 1937, in Los Angeles. He married Velma O. Lift on Jan. 4, 1960, in Las Vegas. They lived in California where he worked for various trucking firms and retired as shop foreman of Fruehauf's Truck and Trailer. After retirement they spent the summer months in Fullerton. His wife, Velma, died on Nov. 13, 2002.
He was an avid golfer and an active member in the Shrine Club and the Cedar River Masonic Lodge in Fullerton. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, playing dominoes and poker.
Survivors include his daughter, Rexine Harris-Grigsby (Don) of Huntington Beach, Calif., and special friends Mike and Patti Applegate of Columbus.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; two sisters, Lillian Cockrell and Cortice Carlisle and one brother, Alton Harris.
Memorials may be directed to the Cedar River Masonic Lodge #89 A. F. and A. M. in Fullerton.
