Colleen Gibson Cheng Obituary

Colleen Diane Gibson Cheng of Sacramento passed away on October 7, 2025, at Mercy San Juan Hospital due to a sudden stroke. She was born on February 18, 1974, the much beloved daughter of Sharon Gross, Michael Gibson (deceased), Robert Mix and adored sister of Jack Gibson. Colleen graduated from Holy Spirit School and Rio Americano High School. She attended Sacramento City College and then graduated from Cosmetology school. Colleen happily married Chi Cheng in 2004. Unfortunately he was fatally injured in an auto accident less than five years later. There was so much more to Colleen than words can express. She was beautiful and always happy, upbeat and very generous with her time and anything else she could contribute. She was a paragon of positivity. She was a superb horsewoman beginning at the age of 6 and competed in English riding competitions throughout Northern California. She even rode for pleasure after her first stroke. Despite having had a previous stroke she didn't let it slow her down and continued life as a very active and positive person. She continued to learn and challenge herself. She volunteered at the SPCA and walked her family dogs daily. She was born an animal lover and occasionally commented that she loved dogs more than people! She is survived by her mother, brother and stepfather as well as her aunt Jackie Strong, uncles Jerry and Tom Gross and many loving cousins and friends. She will be deeply missed.
