James Foster Obituary
A man of passion. A man who left a lasting mark on everyone he encountered. Jim, also known as Poppie to those that loved him, was born on August 23, 1944, in Billings, Montana, to Howard and Eva Foster, and was lovingly raised in Colusa, California, along with his siblings Don Foster, Bob Foster, Diane Foster Bransford, and Jerry Foster. His life was filled with many skills and accomplishments. Whether excelling in residential design & the building industry, contributing to the commercial beekeeping legacy which his family was known for, or fulfilling his childhood passion for raising Arabian horses, Jim poured himself fully into everything he did-and he excelled. Yet above all these achievements, his greatest legacy was his family. Jim was a devoted husband to Kathleen, a proud father of five children, Tanya Cassier, Eric Foster, Jennifer Givens, Katie Rollins, and Gabriel Foster, a grandfather to sixteen grandchildren, and a great-grandfather to seventeen great-grandchildren. Beyond his family, Jim was a true friend to all who crossed his path. Much of what Jim did for others was never known-quiet acts of generosity, kindness, and sacrifice. His wife Kathleen, who faithfully remained by his side, described him as a man of great generosity and many creative talents. Yet what he did best was love and build his family. Jim passed peacefully at his home in Marysville, California, on August 18, 2025, surrounded by the love of his wife and the peace of God. His legacy is not only found in the work of his hands but in the lives he touched. He built his life on the foundation of Christ, honoring the tradition of family, being a faithful, devoted, and loving husband and father. James Howard Foster is leaving behind a family and community forever marked by his love. Please join us in celebration of the life of our husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to be held on Sunday, September 14th, at 3:00 p.m. at Butte Star Ranch, 8807 S Butte Rd, Sutter, CA.
