Robert Angulo Obituary
Robert Leland Angulo (Bob) of Maxwell, CA passed away in his home surrounded by loving family on December 20, 2023. He was 92 years young and ready for his new life in heaven. Bob was born in San Francisco CA to his mother Pearl Mardell Ambrose and his father Juliann Richard Angulo. He is survived by his brother, Richard Arthur Angulo who was 1 year and 12 days older than him. They celebrated birthdays together as "twins for 12 days" as often as they could throughout their lives. He is also survived by his daughter Marta Susan Doran of Fresno, son Richard Leland Angulo also of Fresno and daughter Nita Kay Wells (David) of Maxwell, where he had resided the last 23 years. Four beautiful Granddaughters and Ten Great Grandchildren all of whom brought joy to his life and he loved dearly. Robert grew up on the Streets of San Francisco, living an adventurous life as two children of a single parent, during times of World War II and the depression. He loved to regale anyone who would listen with those wonderful stories of survival and adventure, nipping buses, fishing on the docks and swimming in the ocean or Flyshackers Swimming Park. He was an accomplished Gymnast at the SF Boys Club and traveled the state putting on shows. He always said the Boys Club saved him from becoming a hoodlum! As he grew older, he became an Apprentice Glazier with his step dad and eventually became a full Glazier. Robert moved from San Francisco to Willows in 1966 with his wife Roberta (Bobbie) and his daughter Nita where he bought the Willows Glass Company and continued wielding his Glazier skills. During this period, he was a member of the Willows 20/30 Club and was active with the Elks Lodge. He very much enjoyed those organizations and their community contributions. Bob and Bobbie moved to Stonyford, CA in 1969 and he went to work for the USFS as a firefighter and eventually as a Recreational Tech. For much of the year he and Bobbie with Nita worked and lived on the Goat Mountain Lookout, where Bobbie was the lookout for 12 years. Bob was well known with the Forest Service people he worked with for his enormous sense of humor and his love of a good prank! Stonyford Rodeo and the Colusa County Cattlemen's Playday were near and dear to his heart and he worked at the Rodeo grounds nearly year-round to help improve and keep up the grounds. Building, painting, pouring concrete or fixing windows! Bob was a longstanding member of the Colusa County Search and Rescue. Bob hunted and fished in the Mendocino National Forest as a teenager and throughout his life. He was always happiest in the woods or on the water. He loved to teach his children and grandchildren all he knew about fishing, hunting and preparing your bounty for the table. Upon retirement Bob and Bobbie moved 'back to the ocean', to Fort Bragg CA and enjoyed their hard-earned time rest and fishing the deep sea. Bobbie went to heaven in May of 2000 and Bob moved home to Maxwell to be nearer to family. In Maxwell he worked seasonally for LC Dennis in the rice fields, running bankout and harvester. He loved his life in Maxwell, the new friends, his beloved family and he enjoyed fishing in the pond. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. "But don't worry about him…He'll be alright!"
