To the Miller Family:
Mr. Miller was my principal--at Longview Elementary--when I was in the sixth grade. He was a tremendous encourager for all of us who attended that school; but I will never forget the individual attention and personal encouragement that was directed towards me by Mr. Miller.
I never got to know any of you, but you are known in my prayers and in my thanksgiving for your sharing this incredible man with other lives.

The Miller Family
I first knew A.D. as a kid when he was the Manger of the Orange Mound Swimming pool, although he and my sister Cora Reid graduated together from BTW in the class of 1944. However, we became close
friends after we purchased homes in the same neigborhood. The Suggs, Millers and Isabels spent many hours together having fun talking and playing cards together. We even shared part of our vacation together many years ago in Los Angeles and Las Vegas. I loss close contact with the family after moving away from Memphis. However, I have great memories of our times together and deeply share your loss. May God continue to bless the family.

Mrs. Miller, Valerie, Beverly, Thomas and the entire family,
We are deeply saddened by the loss of our close and wonderful neighbor Mr. A. D. Miller. When I first met him after he had moved next door, I related to him that Valerie and I were classmates at Corry Jr. High. He let me know quickly that while that was alright, he and my mother graduated from Booker Washington (Class of '44 I believe) together and he knew my whole family! That was the basis on which we established a long and meaningful relationship. We always had great visits over the fence and I always came away wiser as a result.
Please know that we are praying for your strength, we are here for you right next door and we'll forever treasure the memory of Mr. A.D.

Mr. Miller was an inspiring educator.
When I think of great principals, I think of Mr. A.D. Miller. It comes as no surprise that he served his country with distinction and honor. He inspired me in my youth as an educational leader and even now in my professional work and life. I as well as all former Rams that walked the halls of Longview, and the families he positively impacted share your loss and extend our deepest sympathy to the Miller Family. May God Bless and Keep You. Micheal W. Moore & Family

Beverly,
Through our conversations you would talk about your father frequently and every conversation provided me with a glimpse into what a wonderful person, educator, and father he must have been. Even more, I was always fascinated with his service to our country as a Tuskegee Airman during WW II--truly unbelievable. Nevertheless, I am so sorry for your loss, and know that with his efforts in the community he will not be forgotten. Please remember that you and your family will be in my thoughts.
My Deepest Sympathy,

Mr. Miller left a lasting impression on my life as principal of Longview School. I will always remember him walking the halls with his bell in hand. The fruits of his labor will be remembered along time.

Remember
Remember me when I am gone away,
Gone far away into the silent land;
When you can no more hold me by the hand,
Nor I half turn to go yet turning stay.
Remember me when no more day by day
You tell me of our future that you plann'd:
Only remember me; you understand
It will be late to counsel then or pray.
Yet if you should forget me for a while
And afterwards remember, do not grieve:
For if the darkness and corruption leave
A vestige of the thoughts that once I had,
Better by far you should forget and smile
Than that you should remember and be sad.

Mr. Miller, I didn't just know you but, one of your friends (Ms. Cleo Dixon-Taylor/retired school teacher) called to tell me to check on your condition every day almost that you were here in (The Med). She sent her prayers daily. I even had a chance to met your wife. We are very sadden that you are no longer with us but we do know that God knows best and you certainly do not have to suffer any more. May God Bless You and Your Family.

Mr. Miller and I have been neighbors for almost 20 years. We have had some very interesting conversations, talking over the fence that seperates our properties. AD was always cordial, always direct and never put on any airs. He will certainly be missed but I thank God for the time he allowed him to share with me. I extend deepest condolences to Mrs. Miller and the Miller family and my family will be prayerful for you during this difficult time.
