ALLAYNE TURNER Obituary

Allayne LaRita Turner was born January 29, 1963, the second of three children and only daughter to Alexander and Emma J. Exom Turner during one of the worst snowstorms ever recorded for Memphis, Tennessee. She enjoyed a wonderful childhood surrounded by her brothers and cousins. As a product of the Memphis City School system, Allayne was most proud of her participation in the Hamilton High School Wildcat Marching Band as a flag girl. She received her diploma from Hamilton in 1980, graduating with friends she had known since Alcy Elementary. Allayne continued her education at Tennessee State University in Nashville, working and living there for the next several years. She then moved to Atlanta, GA where the entrepreneurial bug hit her hard. She founded the highly successful business venture “Roomates For You.” She was also a very active member of Bishop Eddie Long’s New Birth Missionary Baptist Church during that time. She remained in Atlanta until declining health led her back home in 2007. Her return to Memphis reunited her with her Mom with whom she shared company and provided care to one another as needed. Allayne lived a full and active life even as she faced enormous health challenges over the last few years. In a life filled with success, all who were touched by her loving spirit, can give testimony to her faithfulness love and devotion to God as the highlight of a special life. She is survived by her mother Emma Jean Exom Turner and brother, Allen Turner. Viewing: Saturday, October 18 from 9-10:55 a.m. with Service to follow at 11 a.m. at Collins Chapel CME Church, 678 Washington Ave. Burial in Elmwood Cemetery. J. E. Herndon Funeral Home (901)353-4499

We will miss you, Allayne. You were an inspiration to many people. I have known you since you were a little girl and when you grew into womanhood. May you rest without the ills that plagued you for the past few years. May Jesus welcome you with open arms into heaven. May you praise Jesus and God forever more. Little did any of us know that when we were at the Alcy Hills Block Club 2nd generation picnic this past July, for a lot of us that would be the last time we would laugh, talk, hug and reminisce about childhood fun times! We were one big happy family for so many years playing as children all over the neighborhood, without a care in the world! Never thinking about growing up becoming adults and making our own lives in the world!I will forever remember all the times we all played together and think about how physically you will no longer be with us, but in our hearts and minds you will live forever! God saw that your assignment was complete here on earth, so He called you to your eternal home! A new angel has just arrived and her name is Ms.Allayne Larita Turner! Gone to soon, but will live forever in our hearts with loving memories of days gone by! Rest on sweet angel Allayne, rest on! You will always be missed, loved and a part of our neighborhood family! The Alcy Hills Block Club 2nd Generation, Hamilton Wildcat and TSU Tiger! Gone way to soon, but never to be forgotten! We love you Allayne!
