Charles Palmer Obituary

Charles Harold Palmer Jr., 81, of Carlisle, died Monday, Sept. 8, 2008, in Hershey Medical Center.

Born Aug. 6, 1927, in Rockville Center, N.Y., he was the son of Charles H. Palmer Sr. and Maynona Post Palmer.

Charles was a graduate of Syracuse University, and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a Mason, a member of Old Town Run Mountain Lodge and Second Presbyterian Church in Carlisle. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and spending time with his family.

Chuck is survived by his wife of 24 years, Bobbie Ritter; his stepchildren, Jennie, Paul and Chris Ritter; his children with his first wife, Connie Callison, Debi Chacharon, John and Pam Palmer; a sister-in-law, Sherri Wark; and eight grandchildren, Scott, Sara, Erin, Madeline, Rachel, Alexandra, Nikki and Zachary.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jane Wark Palmer.

There will be a memorial service at 2 p.m. Thursday in Second Presbyterian Church, 528 Garland Drive, Carlisle.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the National Kidney Foundation at www.kidney.org.

I was saddened to read about Mr. Palmer's passing in The Sentinel today. May he rest in peace. I have pleasant memories of many "sleep overs" with Debi at the Palmer's house when we were kids and Mr. Palmer would cook scrambled eggs for us for breakfast.
