Jack Wright

Jack Wright, of Memphis, passed away on Friday, February 27, 2009. Mr. Wright was 89 years old. He served in WWII and was a lifelong salesman. Mr. Wright was a Territory Manager for Firestone Tire and Rubber Company early in his career. He went on to be a Regional Sales Manager for Moto Mower Lawn Mower Company. He left Moto Mower to establish his own company, Wright Sales Company a manufacturers representative agency for heavy duty lawn equipment throughout the Southeast and Texas. He was member of the “Old Guard,” an honorary professional sales organization with the hardware industry. Mr. Wright was an avid sportsman and a dove and quail hunter. His true passion was Trapshooting where he achieved many championships throughout the Southeast including the Grand American Trapshoot. He was named Mr. Trapshooter of Tennessee. He was instrumental in founding the Tennessee Trapshooting Association Hall of Fame where he was inducted in 2000. Mr. Wright was known for his trapshooting skills and his ability to coach people in the art of trapshooting. His overall love of trapshooting made it possible for him to bring many people into the sport. Mr. Wright was a lifetime member of the ATA and the NRA. He was a charter member of Christ United Methodist Church. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Martha, two brothers, John Wright of Lawrenceburg, TN and Dr. W.J. Wright of Earle, AR. He is survived by his daughters, Jackie Fowlkes and her husband Jimmy of Collierville, TN, Jane Alcaraz of Jonesboro, AR, two grandsons Scott Maddox of Asheville, NC, Clay Maddox of Nashville, TN, and great-grandson, Cooper Maddox also of Nashville, TN. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 2, 2009, from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at Memorial Park Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 11:30. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
