Jesse Lawrence Obituary

Eads - DR. JESSE A. LAWRENCE, JR., M.D., passed away peacefully at his home in Eads, TN. on Tuesday, July 7, 2009. He was 75. Dr. Lawrence was a 1952 graduate of CBHS, attended Memphis State, served his country in the US Army, and graduated from the University of Tennessee School of Medicine in 1958. After having completed 6 years of general practice in Wilson, Arkansas, and a subsequent fellowship in neurology at the Mayo Clinic, he practiced neurology in Memphis for more than 30 years with Mid-South Neurological Clinic and later with the Semmes-Murphey Clinic. He was highly regarded by his peers, authored several medical articles, and enjoyed many years as an associate professor of neurology with UT. He was a devoted father and husband. He is survived by his wife, Betty McNeil Lawrence; two sons, Stephen and Jesse (Al) Lawrence; his daughter-in-law, Beth Lawrence; four grandchildren, Jesse IV, Mary, Cooper, and Sophie of Heber Springs, AR; four step-children, Dr. Donald Henley, Savannah, GA, Gwen Shamblin, Brentwood, TN, Deborah Scobey, Franklin, TN, and Walter Henley, Jr., Memphis. He also leaves behind eight step-grand-children, eight step-great-grandchildren, and his Chocolate lab “Ike”. He will be deeply missed by all of us. I considered him a colleague and a good friend. Diane and I always enjoyed his as well as Betty's company. An excellent physician, very compassoinate and caring. Diane and I send our condolences and will remember him in our prayers. Dr. and Mrs JS Hudson
