JOYCE HOOD ACOSTA

Joyce Hood Acosta, 76 of Memphis, went to be with the Lord, March 17, 2011 at St. Francis Hospital Memphis. She went peacefully and now is at rest in God’s arms. She retired from the State of Tennessee as a Social Worker after over 25 years of service. Mrs. Acosta was a lifelong member of Bellevue Baptist Church. She is survived by three of her four sisters, Mildred Eberle of Memphis, TN, Dorothy Garner, and Jean Fuson both of Olive Branch, MS; daughter, Joy Acosta, sons and daughters-in-law, George and Julie Acosta, and John and Terry Acosta, all of Memphis, TN; grandchildren, Richard Wood Jr., Joseph Wood, Julie Acosta, George Acosta III, Hunter Acosta, Corey Acosta, Stephen Stoddard and Khristin Stoddard; and great-grandchildren, Kristina Wood, Joseph Wood II, Anthony Wood, Kailliya Acosta, and Malik Raymond. Visitation will be held on Sunday March 20 from 3-5 p.m. at Forest Hill Midtown Funeral Home. Funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. Monday March 21 also at Forest Hill Midtown Funeral Home 1661 S. Elvis Presley Blvd (901) 775-0310. A reception will be held for family and friends following the funeral service at the home of John and Terry Acosta.
