Patricia Lovington Obituary
Patricia Perkins Lovington passed peacefully in her sleep on May 5, 2021. She was born Patricia Eugenia Perkins to Dr. & Mrs. AR Perkins on June 17, 1933. She attended Centre College and received a masters degree from Eastern Kentucky where she also met and married her beloved Lawrence Lovington. They were married 55 years, he preceded her in death.
They had three children - Pamela Rendfeld (Mark), Sharon Bellott Luck (William) , David Lovington (Belinda). She leaves eight grandchildren (Kevin, Lauren, Sarah, Millie, Julia, Jackson, David and James) and three great grandchildren.
Pat was a gregarious Christian who never hesitated to open her home, arms, or wallet to anyone in need. When her family waited to find her after church service they needed only to pause and listen for her laughter. She would always be found in a huddle with someone enjoying the moment.
For most of her career she worked at the University of Memphis in career counselling. Her office was a place where students who needed to see a friendly face could go. More than once she paid for someone's tuition or purchased their books for the semester. That was her joy.
Many of her friends are gone and as her circle of acquaintances became smaller she continued to connect with those around her. The women who cared for her in her assisted living facility in SC often hung on her every word as she told humorous stories. Laughter was usually in her midst. During her final days many of those employees called to check on " Miss Pat" and all who loved her shed tears as she left this earthly home. No doubt there is laughter in heaven.
She was a lifelong member of Trinity Methodist church in Memphis, Tn.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers you make a donation to the Church Health Center or the United Methodist Church Foundation.

I didn't keep up with Pat after our 1951 DHS graduation, but Harry Stigall was kind enough to share news about her. I did enjoy seeing Pat at our 50th class reunion here in Danville....in viewing the photos from that event, I can see the personality described in her obituary.
