I am very saddened to hear of Dr. Faudree's passing and wish the best to Mrs. Faudree and the children. I have always been impressed that so many of the Memphis mathematicians great achievements were easily dwarfed by what wonderful and kind people they were. Dr. Faudree led the team in this regard. As a struggling grad student surrounded by greatness it was easy to be intimidated and there were so many times Dr. Faudree gave a smile, a word of encouragement, or an ear to me. This happened at his house, a conference, or even as Provost. In addition to this, I appreciate his and Mrs. Faudree's efforts to host the Erdos parties that gave me an opportunity to form relationships with so many wonderful mathematicians. Lastly, I have a nice career because people know my PhD is from Memphis, a department whose reputation Dr. Faudree tirelessly built. Thank you, Dr. Faudree, for all of it.

My condolences to Dr. Faudree's family. He was my Algebra professor at U of M and I was fortunate to have him as he could make the most difficult concepts look easy and was such a lovely man and dynamic person. He will truly be missed.

Dr. Faudree was a brilliant man who worked tirelessly to move the U of M forward. He also genuinely cared about people and was unfailingly kind. I hold him and his wife Pat in high regard. My thoughts are with the family.
