ROBERT WALT Obituary

Jackson - Robert Dabney Walt, Sr., age 90, passed away January 20, 2010. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Jackson, TN. Robert was born June 29, 1919, in Memphis, Tennessee to the late Charles Airey Walt and Lucy Dabney Walt. He was a graduate of Memphis Tech High School and attended the University of Georgia, where he played football for the legendary Georgia coach, “Wally” Butts. Robert was President of Bob Walt Lumber Company in Jackson, Tennessee until he retired in 1998., the Jackson Country Club and the Lumberman’s Club in Memphis, Tennessee. He was a devoted husband, a loving father and an avid golfer. Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Tracy Hanafee Walt, who passed away June 29, 1995. He is survived by his son, Robert Dabney Walt, Jr. of Atlanta, Georgia, daughter and son-in-law Tracy Walt and Edward G. Phillips; and granddaughter, Dabney Walt Phillips all of Knoxville, Tennessee. The family would like to thank the staff at Little Creek Sanitarium for all their loving care and support over the past years. Family and friends will meet Saturday at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Jackson, TN for a 1:30 P.M.(cst) graveside service with Monsignor Thomas Kirk officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to HABIT (Human Animal Bonding in Tennessee), 2407 River Drive, Room A-205, Knoxville, TN 37996-4543.
