Aram Koltookian Obituary

Aram Koltookian, of Concord, passed away Monday, May 16, 2011 at Harris Hill Nursing home with his family by his side.

Aram was born in Concord December 20, 1928. The son of Sarkis and Stella Koltookian. He was a graduate of Concord High School and went on to earn a degree in Chemistry from The University of New Hampshire. Shortly after graduation he moved to Louisville, Ky., where he worked as a chemist at J.E. Seagrams Inc. He was then drafted into the chemical core of the Army in 1952 and was stationed at Fort McClellan for two years. After being discharged he returned home to work with his brother, John, at Concord Auto Top Co. In 1965 he and his brother founded The Outdoor Sports Center in Concord, where he worked until retiring in 1989.

Aram was predeceased by his brother, John Koltookain of Concord and his nephew Sarkis Koltookian of Cedar Falls, Iowa. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Dorothy Koltookian of Concord; his nephew, Lev Koltookian, and his wife, Deb, or as he liked to call her, Debbo of Concord; his favorite niece, Sona Koltookian of Scottsdale, Ariz., and his five grand nieces and nephews, John Koltookian of Medford, Mass., Leah Lundquist and her husband Keith of Concord, Aram, Stephanie and Christopher Koltookian, along with their mother Ruth, of Cedar Falls, Iowa. The family all agrees that Aram was without a doubt the coolest uncle ever!

He enjoyed coming into the Outdoor Sports Center for the free candy, conversation to make sure he was the only one goofing off! He was a true Red Sox fan; he would love to watch them win and complain about them when they lost! Aram enjoyed gardening, going to Target, ketchup and making people laugh. He hated chicken soup and didn't believe in leftovers unless it was spaghetti!

Aram will be remembered by all who knew him as a caring, witty, intelligent man who was always in a great mood. There will never be another one quite like "Uncle" Aram and he will be greatly missed by his family.

Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.

The Bennett Funeral Home of Concord is in charge of the arrangements.

I had the pleasure of meeting Aram when he would visit his mother in the nursing home. I worked in the activities department and he was kind enough to buy two parakeets and a beaufiful cage for the residents on the fifth floor of MCNH. Those birds gave much joy and he would check on them almost daily when he came to his mother. Aram and his family were very devoted to their mother and they would take turns feeding her meals. Aram was a very interesting person with a kind heart. I sill miss talking to him. God Bless, Bonnie in activities (retired)
