I have lovely memories of Uncle Arthur. He was the first person I knew to have a tattoo and I thought him "so out there" to have one. He honoured his navy experience with that reminder.
I had a lot of good conversations with him about my father (his brother) and grandparents which helped me to know my grandparents better, from an adult point of view. His stories about his life in the US Air Force revealed what a caring, sensible, no nonsense kind of person he was. He was very proud of his accomplishments! He made a good life for himself, Aunt Jean and Michael. He was also very committed and proud of his grandchildren and I really enjoyed hearing about them.
He gave me some good health tips to try when we discussed our similar ailments, lol, and they helped.
I am thankful that I got to know my uncle and that I had his valued connection to my father and his family.
I will never hear the word "Manhattan" without thinking about Uncle Arthur!
