Sad to learn of Carl's death. He was very devoted to his sons, and was a clear headed passionate breeder of Angus cattle. During the time that I lived in New Hampshire ,Carl and I shared many spirited times during our visits. My condolences to his family.

Carl was such a wonderful man. He was always thinking of ways to make life better for those around him, like kids at risk, or those who are developmentally disabled. I learned a lot from him about what is truly important to focus on in every day life. I will miss him and am thankful that he was my friend.

We at Red River Theatres were sad to read today of Carl Wallman's death. He and Sharon Olds were supporters of our independent, non-profit cinema in Concord, NH, where they arranged a week of screenings of GREEN FIRE, about Aldo Leopold, in 2011, and furnished one of Carl's "Aldo Leopold Benches" for display that week. His passion and generosity were always evident, but his legacy remains. On a personal note, my daughter, who ventured from NH to Iowa for college, eventually self-designing a major in "Food and the Environment," wrote me excitedly when she visited The Aldo Leopold Center at Iowa State University, because she knew Leopold from the presentation Carl had arranged. Today she continues as a foodie activist in MS, where she works with under-served populations (Choctaw Indians, Vietnamese, etc) to insure culturally appropriate food banks and sources of food. I can only imagine the ripples this generous man started by casting out pebbles, and am grateful for all he did. Condolences to his family, who must miss him far more than the rest of us, too.
