Carol Waite Obituary

Carol M. Waite

Concord, NH - Carol M. Waite, age 84, of Concord, NH passed away peacefully, at Presidential Oaks in Concord, with her family by her side, on August 30, 2025. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend who is already missed by all who knew her.

She was born and raised in Treadwell, NY, the daughter of the late Paul and Jean (Bell) Miner. She graduated from A.L. Kellogg School in 1959 where she had many friends, was a cheerleader and class treasurer. She then attended secretarial school and worked at Cornell University, a job she cherished and reminisced about throughout her life. She later met the love of her life, John R. Waite, who was originally from Bennington, VT, and they married and moved to Concord, NH where they settled and raised their family.

Carol retired after 40 years from the State of New Hampshire where she worked in payroll and human resources for various agencies, mostly at the NH Department of Health and Human Services where she met many friends with whom she remained close.

She loved cooking, baking, crocheting, quilting, listening to Country Music and especially being with her family. There was nothing more important to her than her children, grandchildren and great-grandson. She was also an avid animal lover, in her later years having had 2 beloved corgi dogs, "Hank and Honey" who were her best buddies, and cats, Abby, Gobo and Finnian "Finn, her old man". Holidays were important to her. She hosted many Thanksgiving dinners for family and friends throughout the years who looked forward to tasting her delicious holiday meal traditions of which she was "famous" for, especially her scalloped oysters, pork pie and corn pudding. She had many recipes showcased in local cookbooks as well as in the Concord Monitor in the late 1960s and early 1970s. She took after her husband's love for Christmas and enjoyed decorating the family home and property with abundant Christmas lights and displays which were well known by many families in the Concord East Side community who would stop by to see the lights and be treated to candy canes by "Mr. and Mrs. Claus". She and her husband also hosted many memorable Easter egg hunts over the years for their grandchildren. She enjoyed spending summer vacations throughout the years with her family at Wells Beach, Maine, a place where she looked forward to going every year. She and her husband enjoyed NASCAR and collecting Beanie Babies together during their retirement. Carol was a very generous listener to all those who needed support or a listening ear. Whether a friend or family member, she was there for everyone and leaves behind a legacy of many treasured memories, words of wisdom and so much love.

Carol was predeceased by her parents, Paul and Jean Miner, her husband, John R. Waite who passed away in 2006; and her two brothers, Robert "Roy" Miner and Donald Miner.

She is survived by her daughter, Brenda (Waite) Lovely and her husband Michael of Chichester; her son, David Waite and his wife Rebecca of Southport, NC; 4 grandchildren, Amy (Lovely) Wood and her husband Thomas of W. Springfield, VA, Paul Lovely and his wife Cara of Concord, Allison (Waite) Geiser and her husband Nick of Van Nuys, CA; and Molly (Waite) Tellier and her husband, Aiden of Tampa, FL; a great grandson, Andrew Wood; her 2 brothers, Thomas Miner and his wife, Gail, of Grand Gorge, NY, and Walter "Butch" Miner and his wife, Roswitha, of Clyde, NY; a sister-in-law, Gert Miner of Treadwell, NY and a sister-in-law, Jill Waite of Gilford, NH as well as many nieces and a nephew; and many friends who held a special place in her heart to include but not limited to Carol Thornton of Canterbury, NH and Barbara Ingerson of Concord, NH.

Memorial visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, September 10, 2025 from 12:30 to 1:30 at the Waters Funeral Home, 50 South Main Street, Concord.

A Memorial Service will follow at 1:30 PM in the Chapel of the Waters Funeral Home.

Burial will be in the NH Veteran's Cemetery in Boscawen at 3 PM.

I knew your Mom back in the 80's when she worked for the NH Hospital in Payroll. My job was auditing her work. She knew her job and did it well. I don't recall her ever making a mistake and she always brought a smile to my face when I talked with her. I feel lucky to have know her. My heartfelt sympathy to her family.

Allison and I were so grateful to see Carol in the week before she passed away. While her strength was waning, she was comfortable and at peace when we visited her in the afternoon. She smiled and laughed with us as we schemed to secure her a shrimp dinner and sneak her Dairy Queen through the outside window. I met Carol later in life, but she was always a warm and respectful conversational partner--I remember a spirited but amicable political discussion with her the first time we met over lunch at the Red Blazer. I know Allison will miss her dearly.
