Christopher Proulx Obituary

Christopher Proulx

Somersworth, NH - Christopher Leo Proulx, 56, of Somersworth, NH passed away on Thursday, April 24, 2025. Born in Concord, NH on June 4, 1968, he was the beloved son of Joseph and Carol Ann Proulx.

Chris (or "Pooh Bear" as he was affectionately called in his younger years) graduated from Hopkinton High School in 1986 and the University of New Hampshire in 1991. After graduation from UNH he was employed as a youth counselor in California. He later returned to the New Hampshire seacoast area. He worked as a skilled craftsman building luxury homes and continued in the construction industry until he transitioned to private security.

Chris loved his family above all else. He valued time with them, especially his grandchildren, nieces and nephews. The best times were vacationing, attending practices and games, and family events. Chris was a natural teacher; he embraced every opportunity to explore, play, and enrich people's lives. He was known for being kind, caring, and the fun uncle. He had an eccentric, eclectic and witty sense of humor, and often amused the family with his whimsical photoshop skills.

Chris enjoyed poker, trivia, golf, soccer, playing guitar and interactive online games with the kids. He delighted in writing special songs to entertain his grandchildren. Chris was the master of orchestrating elaborate holiday scavenger hunts for the kids. Another one of Chris's great joys was spending time with his beloved dogs, Barney and Missy.

Chris was predeceased by his mother Carol Ann Proulx. He is survived by his partner Peggy and their daughters Jessica Plourd and husband Patrick, and Nichole Drew and husband Christopher; his grandchildren Parker and Quinn, Cohen and Mason; his father, Joseph Proulx and partner Susan Kilmister; his siblings Lisa Byron and husband Bill, Mark Proulx and partner Aiqin Zhang, Susan Roberts and husband Mark, and Joseph "Joey" Proulx and wife Jessica; nieces and nephews Bradley and son Parker, Alex and wife Sarah and their children Callie and Piper, Courtney and partner Brody; Jacob and Melissa; Chris and wife Brittany, Rachel and husband Zach and son Miles, and Jillian; Lilly and Madeline; as well as many more dear family members and friends.

Chris was a compassionate man, touching so many lives with his random acts of kindness and generosity. His grandchildren referred to him as "Pop Pop" and delighted in the frog pond he made for them, pushing them along on the zip line and always encouraging them to try new things. He was a calming, uplifting and nonjudgmental presence in his daughters' lives. He had a way of making people feel loved and supported and never asked anything in return. He will be missed deeply but always cherished in our hearts.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the NHSPCA at https://nhspca.org/donate-today/ or contact the Stratham NH SPCA at (603) 722-2921, ext. 120.
