Cleopatra "Rinis" Makris

1930 - 2017

Cleopatra "Rinis" Makris, age 87, of Concord, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at Hospice House in Concord with her family by her side. She was born February 17, 1930, in Beckley West Virginia. She was the daughter of the late Leonidas Rinis and Helen "Ziogas" Rinis. She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and Beckley College. She married Charles L. Makris in Beckley, W.V. on November 6, 1954 and was married for 35 years, until the passing of Charles in 1989.

She was a member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church and a member of the Philoptochos.

She worked with Charlie and his brothers at the Liberty Restaurant and Keniston Drive-in. In 1974, Cleo was employed by The United Life Insurance Company, in the securities department, which later became Chubb Corporation, Jefferson Pilot, and then Lincoln Financial. She worked within the securities department for 29 years before retiring in 2003. She was also a member of the Quarter Century Club.

Cleo enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling, trips to the beach and Sunday lunches at Makris' Restaurant. She also spent many days watching and rooting for the New England sports teams.

She is survived by her daughters, Catherine Makris Mahoney, Lamperni Makris Ahlfeld, and a son, Lee Makris and his wife, Roxanne Makris, and five grandchildren and one god child.

Private family funeral services were held on Monday, July 24, 2017.
