Cynthia Mitchell Obituary

Cynthia Charlotte (Cass) Mitchell

Concord, NH - Cynthia Charlotte (Cass) Mitchell passed away on Monday, March 31, 2025 at the age of 96.

She was born in Concord, N.H. on October 25, 1928, the daughter of the late Ellery E. Cass and Emma J. (Coburn) Cass and was the youngest of eight children.

Cynthia worked at the New England Telephone Company for many years as a switchboard operator on the local and the toll board. She lived in Phoenix, Arizona for 35 years and always admired the "Red Rock" and the amazing sunrises and sunsets and the warm weather there (no snow and hardly any rain).

She worked at the Ilstrup Chiropractor Clinic as an Ultrasound Technician. She also worked at Shure Electronics as an assembler for cartridges and microphones. It was there that Cynthia was chosen to be the reporter in her department for the newsletter and awarded runner-up for top reporter.

Cynthia enjoyed poolside, dancing, bowling, fishing, going to the casinos and shooting pool. She was fun to be with.

Cynthia was a very caring and thoughtful person and friend to all that came in contact with her.

Cynthia drove home six times (twice with her cat, Samantha). She loved her family very much and was torn between Arizona and New Hampshire where her family resided. She returned home for good on August 31, 1999 and was often seen with her sisters, Bessie (in a nursing home) and out to lunch with Mary and Gene. Cynthia often went places with her niece, Cynthia and sister, Mary. They would attend the traditional bean supper at the Chichester Grange, play bingo at the Elks Club and Bektash Temple in Concord and take trips to Mohegan Sun Casino in Connecticut. They always had a good time no matter where they went.

She also loved to be with her nephew, Wayne King and great niece, Lynn Parkinson. Most enjoyable was when Lynn would take her out for rides and to lunch at Beefside Restaurant.

She was predeceased by three brothers, John H. Cass, Joseph R. Cass, Ellsworth B. Cass; four sisters, Josephine A. Simpson, Bessie A. Flamand, Emogene L. Tromblay and Mary E. King; a niece, Dorothy C. (Flamand) Nadeau (who was like a sister to her); nephew, Omer T. Tromblay, Jr.; niece, Cynthia (Tromblay) Parkinson; and beloved pets, her dog Put-Put (poodle) and her cat Samantha.

Cynthia is survived by nephew, Wayne L. King, great niece, Lynn A. Parkinson and many other nieces, nephews and cousins.

LIVE WELL- LAUGH OFTEN- LOVE MUCH.

A Memorial service will be held on Monday, April 7th at 12 Noon in the chapel of the Waters Funeral Home, 50 South Main Street, Concord.

Dear Cynthia and family,
I am so sorry that I missed the memorial service. I knew Cynthia when she would come to Concord to visit with Mary. We would have wonderful talks and sharing of our stories at the store on North State St. in Concord. We had lunches together in Concord and I visited her at her residence in Penacook several times. It was always a happy time when I would see her. I will never ever forget you, Cynthia and how pleasant it was to be with you. Lots of love to you and your family and we will all miss you here but keep a space for us where you are.

Candy and I had a wonderful time together. We both enjoyed a nice cold Budweiser on a hot summer day. She will certainly be missed.

I’m so saddened to hear of her passing. I was thinking of her the other day as a matter of fact. She would laugh knowing she passed on my birthday (Say something like now you will always remember me!) I knew her since 1998 when she became a patient in my Chiropractic office and I always looked forward to her visits and stories. She will be missed.
