Daniel Lord Obituary

Daniel J. Lord

Concord , NH — Daniel J. Lord, aged 73, passed away on April 26, 2021.

He was born in Waterville, Maine, the son of Joseph and Catherine Lord. He attended Lawrence High School in Fairfield, Maine and the University of New Hampshire where he acquired a host of lifelong friends.

Dan traveled often and lived in many places before lighting in Concord where he finally found his home and a family of like minded compatriots. He was a talented landscaper and handyman. He was the property manager at the Patriot Building in Concord for many years.

Dan was blessed with boundless energy and an outgoing personality. He liked nothing better than to enter a room full of strangers. He would emerge elated some time later having acquired a multitude of new acquaintances; some of whom would doubtless become close friends.

Dan (BanDan) was a cornerstone of the Recovery Community in Concord. In his 33 years of sobriety, he changed many lives. He has left a hole that will be hard to fill. Those who loved him will do their best to carry on his work. He would have wanted that.

He is survived by his grieving family; his sister Fran Corriveau and her spouse Elaine Reall, his brother John Lord, his brother Raymond Lord and wife Carolyn and his sister Mary Tracy and husband Keith Harris. He is also survived by the many people he met along the way who will always remember his kind and loving heart. A celebration of his life will be held at 25 Church Street, Concord on June 12, around noon. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the favorite charity he worked so hard for: Steve's Place, P.O. Box 446, Concord, NH 03302. Blessings on us all.

I am sad because I thought I would be able to call my friend anytime to say hello. Yesterday, I found out I was wrong.
I knew Daniel as "ban-dan". I met him in 2004 and no matter how much time went by without seeing him, I got the same smile and hug when we met again. I watched him work his charismatic presence so many times when he would be there for anyone who needed him. He was an amazing roll model and made a huge impact on many people by practicing what he preached- an Attitude of Gratitude. He had an un-matched presence with that laugh, smile, generosity, dedication, honorable nature and ... of course, bandanas- lots of bandanas which I never did see him without. May God be with all of Dan's family and friends as we morn his passing and celebrate the awesome life he was able to find for himself and share unconditionally with so many. Peace my friend, I'll miss you a lot.

Once in a life time you meet someone disguised as an angel. Dan was just that. He changed my life for the better. Although we did not agree on everything I could always count on truth, integrity, and a fatherly love. I will miss him but I always will cherish the memories and all he taught me. I am alive today because of him. He helped a boy become a man. Love you and miss you. God Bless Dan and god bless to the family.

I met Dan a couple of times while caring for an elderly neighbor of his. Dan would cook dinner and bring it to my friend daily and would make every effort to eat with her so she did not have to eat alone. He also invited her for every holiday dinner and performed odd jobs for her when she needed a helping hand. Although I did not know him well, he struck me as one of the kindest human beings I have met. Godspeed Dan and thank you for all the good you did.

“My words cannot convey my overwhelming feelings trying to encapsulate the loving friendship I shared with Dan. Ever since the day we met, my husband and I shared our recovery, good times and many adventures with Dan. He truly lived and loved life. I will forever be grateful for the many conversations and the memories we built together, it honored me. I love you Dan and will miss you so much.”
