A staunch Yankee farmer who believed a man's worth was measured by his word and his handshake. He was active in the Penacook community as a member of the Horace Chase Lodge, former Penacook Methodist Church, Penacook Historical Society and Christmas Santa with his Shetland ponies Prinny and Pebbles. Recognized for his contributions to agriculture as recipient of the NH Farm Bureau Profile Award in 1990, the Andrew Felker Memorial Award in 1993, the Pineconia Grange Agriculture Award in 2012, New England Green Pastures winner and Outstanding NH Young Farmer in l958. Along with his wife, Edwina, whom he married in 1946, they successfully operated Morrill Farm and lovingly raised their family: Allyn and Joe Gilbert of Henniker and their sons, Tim and Aaron and Tim's sons, Owen and Henry; John B. (Jay) (deceased) and his son, Kirk and Jesse Morrill and their sons, Jason and David; Mary Ann Wareing of Deerfield and her family, Alden and Catherine Dill and their children, Charlotte and Emory; Karin and Andrew Allisandratos; and William Wareing; Rob and Sherri Morrill of Concord and their family, Andy and Christy Morrill and Ben; Kimberly and Mark Decker and Derek Morrill; Kevin Morrill and Ryan Morrill; Becky and Paul Colby of Pittsfield and their daughters Rachel and Megan; and Cindi and Rick Jaques of Penacook and their children Lucas and Jennifer Zalenski and Nicole, Hunter and Allison; Bethany and Ray Marier and their son, Johnathon; and Joe and Judy Jaques; and Lou Ann and Ed Darling of Laconia and their sons, Eian and Dan.

His extended family includes scores of international exchange students who called "The Farm" home and learned about American farm life under his guidance.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Edwina in 2013, his son, Jay in 1995, his sister, Raymah Morrill Hoyt in 2010 and her husband, Douglas in 2012.

In addition to his children, David is survived by a lifelong friendship with Weldon and Geraldine Hoyt of Penacook.

Oh I am very sad to hear of David's passing. Being good friends with Jay,20 years ago David brought his buggy to Manchester to transport my mom also born in 1924 and who had turned 70 to her church for a special birthday mass. Shortly after Jay so unexpectedly passed away and my memory of Jay became intertwined with David's act of kindness. My mom Lucy 90 also is in very poor health now but, happy memories from celebrations such as that 20 years ago will always be cherished. RIP David and say hello from me to my ole friend Jay.

My sincere sympathy to the entire Morrill family. No words will do justice in describing Mr Morrill. I thank all of you for allowing me to be a small part in his life. Visiting him, was surely one of best in day, and I would keep it till last, so I could spend some time there. Loved his humor and his stories, so much to learn from him. What a life he had, and what contributions he made to our community!!! Now he deserves this rest, somehow I believe he is already finding something useful to do even in heaven. He will surely be missed.

So long to a man who taught us all. A great friend and mentor, a man who packed more hours in a day yet claimed he hadn't amounted to a damn thing. A man who made the time to bring the pleasures of farming to many, a man who's roots spread far and wide. A man who deserves this rest, but will be missed by us all.

Back in the mid-fifties David would come to my fathers farm to pick corn with his Farmall H and husker machine. At 12 years old I got to stay out of school and drive a John Deere B along side of him pulling a trailer to catch the corn. He was a wonderful person and I'm so glad I had a chance to talk with him a few months ago. I too have a Farmall H and every time I drive it I think of him.

How many years have I been a part of the Morrill Family Farm. How many dinners at your table how many births did I witness. Life was always good on the farm. Even all these years later I still remember...and cherish those memories. I always thought I would become a farmers wife but I ended up in the city. Always a farm girl at heart and so lucky to educated those city people about the life of farming. Dave and Edwina were such a big part of my childhood and my memories. I will always remember them and smile when I think of them. Peace be with the family and may God welcome Dad to heaven and direct him to the Penacook section. Love always, Alison Towle - Mcknight

I had the honor of being part of his extended family helping care for so many of his grandkids and being treated like a loved one. He took me to the field haying and gave me chores showing me the beauty of the farm which will alway be the home of my heart. He raised his kids to be loving honest and kind and I felt that love through all of them. Being with this family is nothing short of the best education about unconditional love anyone could have. To all his children thank you for sharing your family with me. My photo of Gramma and grampa Morrill stays faithfully on my fridge. Every day was a good day following him around the farm even if he was making us work. Thank you all for the morals I learned you are all a wonderful reflection of your parents. I love you.
